"Origins" database

At all times, scorpions have colonized an important variety of habitats and, thanks to their extreme resistance, they adapted themselves to very varied biotopes : deserts, tropical rainforests, temperate environments, mountainous or cave biotopes, intertidal zones, etc...

Contrary to the data on the distribution of each species usually provided in literature, you will find in this part the list of species occupying each country where these animals are present.

- So, this "origins" database could be useful to the people who wish to know more about the species occupying a country.
- Also, people travelling in a country could consult this database in order to know the list of the species they will be able to observe.
- Finally, many species presented in pet shops are sold under the term "sp", or sometimes under an erroneous appellation. Thus, if the country of origin of the scorpion is known, this database could make easier the specimen identification.

I essentially based my "origins" database on the work of Fet et al. (2000), and I update it regularly according to new descriptions and taxonomic changes.
Scorpion taxonomy is often subject of controversy and disagreements between researchers. The Scorpion Fauna stay neutral and the classification / phylogeny used in this database always reflect the most recent published work.
